The Maricopa County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) is planning road preservation work in the Anthem area north of Phoenix, beginning Monday, Feb. 23, through early April 2026.
Crews will apply a preservative sealant to selected roadways within Anthem . During construction, crews will be working on one side of the street at a time to allow the material to cure before completing each section.
The preservative seal is a spray application of a specially formulated asphalt mixture applied to an existing asphalt pavement to extend or preserve the life of the surface. Also known as fog seal, a preservative seal slows the asphalt's aging process and helps to renew the surface, seal small cracks and protect the road from UV rays .
This work is anticipated to take approximately five weeks. Anthem residents will be notified in advance with door hangers providing a time frame for when work is expected to occur on their street.
Please note that changes can occur to construction schedule due to weather, equipment failure or other circumstances.
Thank you for your patience as MCDOT works to maintain roadways in Anthem.
The project includes:
• Applying a coat of preservative sealant, also known as fog seal, to the following streets : Daisy Mountain Drive, Gavilan Peak Parkway, Whitman Drive, Freedom Way, and Anthem Way.
• Striping, installation of pavement markings, and other associated work.
